this is made for seventh sanctum alien contact contest based on their alien race generator. I'm known as lord fig on their forums
this is the description from the generator
"The malformed, turtle-like race. This race moves along on tentacles instead of legs. They can adsorb nutrients, plant-like, from the soil or similar substances. They discharge electricity as a weapon. By tradition, they are a race of inventors. They are actually the embodiment of another, extra-dimensional being. Their society is dependent on one technology: anti-gravity. They are highly creative. They are currently plotting to take over a star system-spanning government. Most of their species ascented to a godlike existence - they are the descendents of those that did not. They once came from another dimension."

I was going to make them a herd race until i read that they were inventors and decided that they'd need hands with apposable didgits for that. I also can't imagine a herd race asending to a got like existance.

I don't really have a name for this race, I just refer to them as the turtle squids

Edit: some say that this picture looks like something out of warhammer 40k (about 5 people have told me this). Not knowing what Warhammer 40k is I can say that it is no influence, my most likely source of influence for any alien is probably Doctor who
